The National MainStreet Program began in 1980 to work with communities across the nation to revitalize historic or traditional commercial areas. In 1985 the New Mexico MainStreet program was introduced through a legislative act. New Mexico was one of the first states in the country to adopt this program with the assistance of the National Main Street Center. In 1987 Carlsbad joined the state program and began work locally to revitalize downtown and further economic stability in the core business district. The Carlsbad MainStreet Project exists to serve the downtown District. Welcome to our site. Please visit our Business Partners page to find out who we partner with to bring downtown events to life!
